Family Expression Confession are gearing up for Christmas. Yes, really. Technically, it’s still October of course but it pays to start thinking about Christmas early – especially if you’re me, have a tendency to think it’s weeks away and then suddenly realise it’s only TWO weeks away and you’ve not even written one card, let alone thought about presents, decorations and food shopping.
This year I want Christmas to be as relaxed as possible. We’ve had a busy year as we got engaged on New Years Eve, married in August, honeymooned in September and had a big joint birthday party for my girls in early October!
The only way to a relaxed, smooth and stress free Christmas is early planning. I’ve started my Christmas presents planning spreadsheet. I’ve booked my shopping delivery spot. I’ve turned my attention to decorations and have been having a good old browse online.
The Christmas Boutique have been kind enough to send me a sample of their wares, and it’s pretty good stuff – some really fab ideas for making our home feel festive, cosy and a welcoming place to be this Christmas. Their website is the Christmas-devotee’s den of excitement, with decorations and accessories galore. Here are some of my favourites:
Father Christmas Fabric Advent Calendar: We have something similar to this already and the girls love it. What a brilliant idea, with pockets for each day of advent to place sweets or small treats and toys in.
Bear Draft Excluder : How cute is this? Practical, too – keeps your home toasty and warm. We have an old Victorian townhouse with drafts aplenty in winter – I can’t wait to have this little man keeping them at bay.
Christmas Wreath: We like to have a garland or wreath on our front door at Christmas. It’s a time when visitors pop by and it’s a welcoming touch. This is a lovely example.
Santa Sack: A Santa Sack! Says it all really. This one looks like it would fit lots of presents in. My girls will love it.
Set of 3 colourful baubles: There are lots of colourful decorations for your tree on the site. We tend to buy a real tree in early December and then forget that last year’s decorations are looking a bit tired. This year we’ll have these to liven things up!
We’ve also just had our chimney swept. As my 4 year old told me, “now it’ll be all clean for Father Christmas, Mummy and he’ll stay here forever and ever!” Here’s hoping!
